National Pumpkin Day

Today we recognize a favored autumn decoration and food that is used in a variety of recipes, competitions and festivals. It’s National Pumpkin Day!  We celebrated the holiday with The Great Pumpkin Cook-off.  We tasted everything from pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin shots to pumpkin bread and pumpkin cookies...even some pumpkin ice cream!  But one pumpkin creation stood out from the rest.  Download the recipe below to judge for yourself!

Groupies Get Away

We've all had a summer we can't forget, with memories that we'll always love. Today, on the first day of summer, the groupies are getting a little nostalgic and have been remembering their favorite summer vacations. We've got the lineup of everyone's fun, crazy, and adventurous summer memories.

AnnaLee: "Some of my favorite summer memories are those where my husband and I go snake hunting. And by snake hunting, I mean snake/reptile collecting of photography. Every once in a while we're lucky enough to see a horny toad.  They are awesome."

Pam: "I have two recent summer vacation memories. This first picture is of my sister, niece, and I on a family reunion trip to California that included a trip in a limo to Napa Valley with a chauffeur named James Bond."

Pam: "The second was of my Mom, sister, and I on a fabulous cruise through New England last summer."

Natalia: "When I was a kid, we would go with all of my dads family to Possum Kingdom every summer. I still remember the thousand steps it took to get to the dock, the bunk beds that lined the cabin and playing board games every night."

Mike: "Here's a selfie of me and Crystal sitting in Christopher Columbus Park in Boston. We drove 5,000 miles round trip and camped (yes, in a tent) the whole way... it was an absolute blast."

I got to spend 2015 working and traveling in the UK. This is a particular trip to the coast of Howth, Ireland (near Dublin) when I got to go on holiday with two other interns. It was for mine and the girl on the rights birthdays. Yeah.. it was the middle of June and we were all wearing jeans and long sleeves! Greatest experience of my life!

Meet Linc! The dog, the mascot, the legend.

He makes an appearance at all Price Group functions, greets everyone in our lobby, brings joy to many, but how much do you know about our squirrel loving mascot? We learned all about his job, name, and favorite things in this exclusive interview.

Q. So tell us how you got your name?
A.  Linc is short for Lincoln. It’s a vague reference to Honest Abe Lincoln.

Q. How did you get your job at the Price Group?
A. I was literally born for this job. The Price Group did a marketing campaign during the last presidential election season called “Vote TPG.” They needed a mascot—something better than a donkey or an elephant—so they came up with a loyal retriever as their mascot that fetches results. Then Mike Meister got the crazy idea that they needed a real-life version of their Linc logo for events, so he and his wife, Crystal, made me.

Q. What’s your job?
A. I greet people when they come into our office, I chase away pesky rodents, but mostly I fetch results.

Q. What is your favorite food?
A. Peanut Butter Cups and ADDY Awards. I mean, I don’t actually eat the awards, but I certainly thrive on them!

Q. What is your favorite possession?
A. My Snoop Dogg anthology

Q. What do you wish you could do that you can’t because you’re a dog?
A. I’m Linc … I can do anything! Just check out our website and you’ll see that I have traveled extensively. I’m not your typical dog (just look at me) so I'm not limited like my canine cousins. The world is my hydrant!

Q. What do you do in your free time?
A. There is no free time for a results-fetcher and pest-chaser. I’m on duty and on call 24/7/365. That’s not to say that I haven’t gotten to do fun stuff for work: travel, photo shoots, trade shows. It’s a good gig.

Q. What is a quote that describes you?
A. “Whatever you are, be a good one.” — Abraham Lincoln

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. Good-looking, but with a little grey in the hair and stiffness in the joints. Totally loyal. Up for just about anything. Steadfast.

Q. Tell us about your look. (Colors, stars, etc.)
A. It’s a unique combination of Americana and Groupiness. How many dogs do you know with stars for birthmarks? My portraits often show an unusual color shift—sometimes yellow, red, aqua or blue. So I’m sort of like a chameleon. Pretty cool.

Q. Where do you want to one day travel?
A. I’ve heard all dogs go to Heaven, so that must be quite the destination. Maybe when I retire….

Q. Can you describe yourself in three words?
A. Loyal. Focused. Squirrel!

Meet the Designers

"Knock, knock!"

We’ve introduced you to the interns and our bosses, now we want you to meet some other groupies! This week we talked to some of the creative force behind Price Group, the designers. This trio can create some crazy stuff, so we wanted you to get to know them a little better.

Meet Annalee, Kaci, and Rebecca!

Annalee

Q: How many years have you been at Price?
A: Almost 2
Q: Position?
A: Art Director
Q: Favorite thing about working at Price?
A: The cohorts.
Q: If you were stuck on a desert island, which coworker would you bring and why?
A: David could MacGyver his way outta there.
Q: What's your go-to lunch?
A: Brown bag and youtube in the board room with the cohorts.
Q: If you weren't working in advertising what would be your dream job?
A: Miscellaneous crafter.
Q: What are you binge watching right now?
A: The Killing & Raising Hope (gotta have a balance)

Rebecca

Q: How many years have you been at Price?
A: A little over four years, including my internship.
Q: Position?
A: Senior Designer
Q: Favorite thing about working at Price?
A: It sounds cliché, but the people. I love working with people that know know what they’re doing, dream big, and (most importantly) look out for each other. I love learning from them as well. We work and play hard together. I also like having the opportunity to create and work on unique projects.
Q: If you were stuck on a desert island, which coworker would you bring and why?
A: Ha ha! Entertainment-wise, I would take any of the groupies. If we’re speaking practically, I would take David. I believe the answer on my last survey was, "That guy could build a working helicopter out of a crate of coconut fibers and one banana peel.”
Q: What's your go-to lunch?
A: Depends on the day. Usually somewhere close, if it’s a weekday. I visited the BackDoor Diner with some friends recently (had never been before), and really enjoyed it. So good.
Q: If you weren't working in advertising what would your dream job be?
A: As a kid, I had many career aspirations (actress, adventurer, singer, counselor, CIA agent (I liked being sneaky), Supergirl (I wanted to help people…and fly), girlfriend of Superman...).
Q: What are you binge watching right now?
A: I’m not really binge watching any one show right now (not enough time). I’ve always liked Gilmore Girls, though. New Girl can be inappropriate, but is really funny, too. As far as new shows go, the Grinder is pretty great. Love Ben Savage’s character - bless his heart.

Kaci

Q: How many years have you been at Price?
A: .25
Q: Position?
A: Designer
Q: Favorite thing about working at Price?
A: We work as a team to get a final project to a customer and we aren’t in competition with each other. I also get to laugh a lot at work and that makes all my days better.
Q: If you were stuck on a desert island, which coworker would you bring and why?
A: I’m pretty introverted so I would kind of like to just be by myself. I might take some of the Communication Arts annuals for some light reading material though. (I also hate hurting peoples’ feelings and this question really stresses me out.)
Q: What’s your go-to lunch?
A: My mood greatly affects my appetite so it changes daily. I can almost always go for a gyro and baklava though.
Q: If you weren’t working in advertising what would be your dream job?
A: I would travel the world and take photos of cool places, so kind of like a national geographic photographer but with FAR less pressure. Or be a racecar driver.
Q: What are you binge watching right now?
A: Parenthood. I just finished season 3 and they played my all time favorite song in a really sad part and I’m still not ready to talk about it yet.
